Your eyes deserve more than a quick sight check. Every eye examination at Justine Proctor Optometrist is carried out personally by Justine, a specialist optometrist with further qualifications in glaucoma and medical retina, who also works in hospital practice.
As well as checking whether you need glasses or contact lenses, she examines the health of your eyes for early signs of conditions such as glaucoma, cataract and macular degeneration. Appointments are never rushed, so you receive a truly thorough check in a relaxed setting.
Justine’s purpose-built practice is equipped with hospital-standard technology, so your eye test goes well beyond reading letters on a chart. Optomap imaging captures a wide view of the retina, while OCT scans reveal its individual layers in fine detail. Images are kept on record, so even small changes can be compared at future visits.
Your test also includes intraocular pressure measurement, peripheral visual field analysis and a binocular assessment to check how well your eyes work together. Where clinically needed, your pupils may also be dilated.
Allow around 60 to 90 minutes for your eye test. Justine follows a thorough routine but tailors each examination to you, taking time to understand your eyes, your health and how you use your vision day to day.
If any additional tests are needed, she will let you know and advise how long they take. Every result is explained clearly, and you are welcome to ask questions at any point. Recommendations take account of your work, lifestyle and hobbies, so your care fits the way you live.
Regular eye tests matter even when your vision seems fine, because some eye conditions develop without obvious early symptoms. National guidelines recommend a yearly test for children aged 15 and under, adults aged 70 and over, and anyone with diabetes or glaucoma. Yearly checks are also advised if you are 40 or over with an immediate family member who has glaucoma. Most adults aged 16 to 69 should be seen every two years.
Overdue a check? Request an appointment and Justine will advise on the right interval for you.
