Justine Proctor Optometrist is a private, independent practice in Bewdley, run solely by Justine herself. That means every appointment, from a routine eye examination or contact lens check to an emergency visit, is carried out by the same experienced specialist who knows your eyes and your history. Justine combines hospital-standard technology with a relaxed, unhurried approach, giving each patient the time they deserve.
The practice has grown entirely through word of mouth, a reflection of the trust patients place in her care.
Justine holds a BSc in Optometry from City University London and is a specialist optometrist with several advanced postgraduate qualifications. These include a Diploma in Independent Prescribing, a higher qualification in glaucoma and a Certificate in Medical Retina.
Together, they allow her to prescribe medication privately to treat acute and emergency eye conditions, and to manage patients with glaucoma and ocular hypertension. Justine also works part time in hospital practice and attends regular training to stay up to date with the latest treatments and research.
Optometry runs in Justine’s family. Both her grandfather and father were optometrists, so she was born into the profession. After graduating, she completed her pre-registration year at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside time in general practice at the Institute of Optometry, where her love of clinical work took hold.
She worked as a locum before joining her father’s Kidderminster practice in 1997, and in 2000 she took over a large practice in Kidderminster. Later, she chose to focus purely on clinical care, opening her purpose-built clinic in Bewdley.
Justine’s clinical interests go well beyond routine eye examinations. She fits all types of contact lenses, including myopia control lenses and Ortho-K, and runs dedicated dry eye clinics. Being dyslexic herself, she has a personal understanding of the challenges dyslexic patients face and helps many with visual difficulties.
This can include orthoptic exercises to improve how the eyes work together, as well as coloured overlays and colorimetry lenses for visual stress. Outside the practice, Justine is a keen horse rider and enjoys travelling, reading and keeping fit.
